Ariva offers year-round internship opportunities of varying lengths for current undergraduate and graduate college students. From January to April – peak time for tax preparation – internships focus on providing direct service to clients in our VITA free income tax preparation program. Interns will be trained and IRS-certified; no experience necessary!
Before and after tax season, interns gain experience and knowledge in various aspects of nonprofit management, which can include marketing and outreach, communications, client relations, and administration. Based on your school requirements, we will work with you one-on-one to develop an internship experience that meets your learning goals.
INTERNSHIP BENEFITS
In addition to college credit, Ariva interns develop valuable professional skills and hands-on experience:
“I enjoy being around people who care about what they’re doing. At Ariva, I’m doing something I love, and I’m in an environment where I know people care about me, and I care about those people, too.” – Llonae Popley Ballintine, former Ariva intern and now a Seasonal Site Coordinator
Are you wondering if an Ariva internship is right for you? All college students are welcome to intern with us—it doesn’t matter where you go to school or which year you’re in. If you meet our minimal requirements, we encourage you to apply! Ariva interns must:
“Our students appreciate the opportunity to get tax certified and provide free tax filing in NYC. They also enjoy interacting with the community one-on-one. I’ve had very nice reviews of Ariva and their internship experiences from my students.” – Mauro Trejo, MSI Scholarship Program Coordinator at The Mexican Studies Institute (MSI) at The City University of New York

Interns work part time, typically 5-12 hours weekly. Internship hours are based on your school’s requirements, and we ask that interns commit to a weekly schedule until their required hours are completed. Daytime hours are flexible, and we have additional availability on evenings and weekends to suit your schedule.
